About

Gibson Angus was established in 1972 by William (Bill) Gibson at Dorrigo NSW.  Foundation females were selected from Booroomooka, Currawidgen, Caleen, Brookfield Park and Ripplefield Angus Studs.  Selection was based on phenotype, structural soundness, milking ability, muscle expression and longevity.

From an early age, Bill’s son, David showed a keen interest in farming life and in particular, the Angus stud. At about the age of 10, he was more than willing to assist his father with the day to day running of the stud.

In 2015, David and his wife Shona, bought the herd. They continue to build on the strong foundation established by Bill.  Their young sons Hunter and Conrad are already part of the scene.

Throughout the life of the stud, a strong emphasis has been placed on culling for fertility.  David and Shona believe this to be the single most important trait in any cow herd as well as the best profit indicator.

Over the years, the stud has used leading AI sires from the US., Canada, New Zealand and Australia.   Each year the bull selection is based on the phenotype and also making sure that the numbers stack up.  Exceptional bulls are retained for use in the stud.

Gibson Angus is now selling about 50 bulls per year and females are always available.

To quote David and Shona: ‘To us integrity is everything.  We back our product and our brand is our bond.  If we can assist you with your program in any way, please do not hesitate to contact us.’
